-PASQUA WINES WILL BE AMONG THE KEY PLAYERS AT AMARONE OPERA PRIMA

Verona 25/01/2023 6min

The Veronese winery participate in the event with its Famiglia Pasqua Amarone, whose 2017 vintage has just received 97 points from Decanter and is among the Wines of the Year 2022.

The event organised by the Valpolicella Wine Consortium and the most important moment on the calendar dedicated to the territory’s reigning denomination, returns on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February at Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona, first on the path to the appointments that from now until April will lead wineries and operators to Vinitaly.

Pasqua Wines will participate in the event with some of its most award-winning interpretations of Valpolicella, with tastings during the event. On Friday, 3 February, on the occasion of the opening gala dinner, a trio of three wines will be offered:

Cecilia Beretta Mizzole Valpolicella DOC Superiore 2018, with a complex nose and great elegance on the palate, supported by intense freshness and flavour; Famiglia Pasqua Cascina San Vincenzo Valpolicella Ripasso DOC 2019, the result of the organic farming project by the winery at the 4-hectare vineyard north of the ridge where Mizzole originates and characterised by a bouquet highlighted by red fruit notes, light balsamic and herbaceous hints and great balance on the palate; lastly, the wine that has just been awarded 97 points by Decanter and included among the Wines of the Year 2022, Famiglia Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2017, a wine of great maturity, with a broad and fruity nose (currant and cherry), spiced tones (reminiscent of cocoa and tobacco), and a velvety palate with silky tannins.

On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February, operators in the sector and winelovers will instead be able to taste Famiglia Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2018, presented here for the very first time and heir to its award-winning predecessor, alongside Mai Dire Mai Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2013.

The first is an interpretation of the stylistic signature of Amarone Famiglia Pasqua. Its complex personality expresses the unstable climate of the 2018 vintage; the second is a wine of great concentration and personality, revealing intense aromas of underbrush, morello cherry, cedar wood, cocoa and hints of leather. The palate is warm and rich, enveloping and complex, with notes of ripe black fruit, cloves, dark chocolate and mocha.

Riccardo Pasqua, CEO of Pasqua Wines, comments about participation in the event: ‘We are excited to have started the year with the 97 points awarded by Decanter to the Amarone Famiglia Pasqua, which we presented at the last edition of Amarone Opera Prima; even more important is that one of our Amarone wines has once again been selected among the Wines of the Year by the British publication, also referred to as ‘the wine bible’. I think it is a significant recognition for the denomination, in terms of visibility and prestige, to which we are proud to have contributed with our projects’.
