-NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CRITICS CONTINUE TO RECOGNIZE PASQUA WINES’ INNOVATIVE ABILITY WHILE RESPECTING THE OENOLOGICAL HERITAGE OF THE TERRITORY
Mai Dire Mai Amarone della Valpolicella 2016 has won Tre Bicchieri from the Gambero Rosso Vini d’Italia 2025 guide, but there are various projects by the Veronese winery which experts agree deserve applause.
Soon to celebrate, in 2025, the centenary of its foundation, Pasqua Wines continues to invest in oenological projects that seek to revise the pre-established rules of the sector, giving life to innovative expressions that remain faithful to the identity of the territory and its vineyards. This approach, realized by the winery’s flagship wines, the Icons, was also recognized by Italian and international critics in 2024.
Mai Dire Mai 2016 received Tre Bicchieri from the Vini d’Italia 2025 guide by Gambero Rosso, confirming how much the most ambitious and radical project by Pasqua for the interpretation of Amarone is now recognized as a great “timeless” wine. The same vintage also received 94 points from the Essential Guide to Italian Wines by DoctorWine (which will be officially presented on 28 and 29 September in Milan), the crown from Vini Buoni d’Italia, and the gold medal from Merano Wine Hunter.
After last year’s debut at Vinitaly, Fear No Dark 2020 – created from the challenge of translating the characteristics of the most secluded part of Montevegro, the extraordinary vineyard which also gave us Mai Dire Mai – won the gold medal from The Drink Business Global Cabernet Sauvignon Masters 2024, while in Italy it obtained 94 points from the Essential Guide to Italian Wines by DoctorWine and the gold medal and Best Veneto IGT award from Wow! The Italian Wine Competition by Civiltà del Bere.
Daniele Cernilli for DoctorWine also awarded 95 points with seal to the Famiglia Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella 2019, which also won the gold medal once again from Merano Wine Hunter.
Alessandro Torcoli then awarded the fourth edition of Hey French another gold medal from Civiltà del Bere.
This recognition demonstrates how firmly the cellar is rooted in tradition (also with more classic interpretations of Amarone) while at the same time looking towards the future (as demonstrated by the first ever multi-vintage still white in Italy).
Internationally, Wine Enthusiast awarded 90 points to PassioneSentimento Bianco Romeo&Juliet, the same score that Decanter assigned to Amarone Terre di Cariano 2017 by Cecilia Beretta and James Suckling to Cascina San Vincenzo 2018, the Amarone by Pasqua Wines from their organic cultivation project. The latter also won the gold medal at the Concours Mondial in Brussels.
Wrapping up, for now, the list of awards received by Pasqua this year are the 91 points awarded by Vinous to 11 Minutes 2023, a label that is at the forefront of a new way of conceptualising rosé winemaking in Italy.
Umberto Pasqua, president of Pasqua Wines, commented on the awards obtained by the winery’s labels, “As we celebrate the first 100 years of our company, we do not lose sight of the goal we have always been committed to: narrating the richness and value of our lands through always transformative wine projects. Evaluations by critics are a continuous stimulus for us to grow and improve. We are happy with the results achieved in 2024 as well, starting with the Tre Bicchieri awarded to our Mai Dire Mai 2016, which rewards an innovative interpretation of a denomination that has always been rooted in tradition.”
Echoes Riccardo Pasqua, CEO of the winery, “The awards we receive in Italy and abroad, starting with the Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso demonstrate how history and know-how, love for one’s origins and openness to the world, which so strongly characterize us, can be the path that characterizes us and rewards us even in the future. Pasqua Wines will soon enter its second century of existence and we want to continue to innovate and look ahead, revealing the terroir in the way we like: creating great wines that will enter our history as milestones and define Pasqua in the coming years.”
