-With his direct and immediate style, from April 1 to 15 the site-specific work by CB HOYO transforms the Roman Theatre in a unique way and extends an invitation to the public, especially to Gen Z audiences, simple yet powerful: to return to the theatre and rediscover the experience of live performance.
In a time dominated by digital and individual consumption, the work uses a contemporary and ironic language to reactivate a collective ritual made of presence, sharing, and emotion.
The artwork was commissioned by Pasqua Wines to promote the 2026 Estate Teatrale Veronese, of which the winery is among the sponsors for this edition.
The Artist
CB HOYO (Havana, 1995) is a contemporary self-taught artist known internationally for a practice that blends irony, social critique, and visual experimentation.
His work explores the intersection of art history, personal experience, and contemporary culture. Through painting, drawing, and writing, CB HOYO challenges traditional notions of authenticity and artistic value, inviting viewers into an open dialogue.
His visual language is colorful and playful, often incorporating recognizable art historical references with a critical and humorous twist. Among his most notable series:
- “Fakes”, reinterpretations of iconic artworks
- “Corny Quotes”, handwritten reflections on life, love, and society
Deeply influenced by his Caribbean heritage, personal journey, and observations of the world, his work resonates across cultures and audiences.
Unafraid to question the art system he operates within, CB HOYO continues to push boundaries and evolve his artistic practice.
